Enjoy the delicious flavor of ApfelStrudel with our Quick Apple Strudel with Puff Pastry and Vanilla Sauce. This scrumptious dessert combines the sweet goodness of apples with the flaky golden puff pastry. The result is a perfect balance of crispiness and tenderness that captures the essence of this beloved European pastry.  It is one of the most comforting desserts you can prepare during the apple season.

Thinly sliced apples are generously coated in a mixture of raisins, breadcrumbs, cinnamon and sugar, adding a warm, comforting flavor to every bite. The puff pastry wraps the apple filling in layers of buttery, golden goodness.

Our simple vanilla sauce is like the superstar topping for the ApfelStrudel. Pour it generously over the warm pastry, and you’ll get this creamy, sweet flavor that makes every bite extra delicious. It’s the special touch that turns a basic dessert into something amazing.

This Quick Apple Strudel is not just a dessert, it’s a celebration of flavors and textures, perfect for family gatherings, special occasions, or whenever you crave a bit of sweetness in your life.

How to make this quick apple strudel with puff pastry

Start by preheating your oven to 400F (200C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Now, let’s whip up the apple filling. I have used Golden apples this time but any other apples will work good, like Granny Smith, Gala or Fuji. Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin slices. Toss these slices in a bowl with lemon juice, lemon zest, sugar, flour, cinnamon, breadcrumbs, and raisins. Set it aside.

Time to work with the pastry dough. Place it on the prepared baking sheet. Move fast to keep it cool. Mark a rectangle in the center of the sheet, leaving a 5-inch (12cm) border on each side and a 1-inch (2.5 cm) border at the top and bottom. Start making diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart on both sides of the rectangle. Ditch the four corners.

Spread that tasty apple filling in the middle of the dough. Now, fold the top and bottom parts of the dough over the filling.  Fold the diagonal strips of dough over the filling, alternating sides until all loaf is braided. Press ends to seal.

Give your apple strudel a nice brush with a beaten egg and sprinkle some sugar on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until it’s puffed up and lovely golden brown.

How to prepare the vanilla sauce

In a small saucepan, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the milk and cream, then put it on medium-low heat. Cook for about 6 minutes, stirring continuously until it thickens. No need to bring it to a boil. Set it aside until you’re ready to use it.

Once your apple strudel is baked to perfection, pour that vanilla sauce onto your serving plates. Add a slice of apple strudel and dust it with powdered sugar and enjoy.

Hope you will give this easy and quick apple strudel a try, it is simply delightful. If you do, make sure to share the photos with me on Instagram. Would love to see how it turns out for you.

This Puff Pastry Strawberry Cheesecake is an irresistible dessert that combines cheesecake’s rich and creamy texture with the buttery and flaky layers of puff pastry. This dessert combines sweet, tangy, and creamy flavors that melt in your mouth with every bite.

I love this cake as it reminds me of my childhood. As a child, I used to buy a similar cake from the local pastry shops and it was one of my favorite desserts. The base of this dessert is a layer of buttery puff pastry that is baked to perfection, creating a crispy and flaky texture that complements the soft and creamy strawberry filling.

The original cake is made with a meringue and strawberry filling. For this recipe, I use cream cheese and strawberry filling instead. The cheesecake filling is made from a mixture of cream cheese, powdered sugar, fresh strawberry jam, and whipped cream. This filling is evenly spread over the puff pastry base and topped with puff pastry crumbs.

Finally, this delicious dessert is finished with a dusting of powdered sugar, adding a finishing touch of sweetness and elegance to the dish. The combination of the crisp puff pastry, creamy cheesecake and strawberry filling make this dessert a crowd-pleaser that is perfect for any occasion.

How to make this Puff Pastry Strawberry Cheesecake

First, prepare the puff pastry crust. For this, roll the puff pastry sheet very thinly and bake at 400F (200C) until golden brown and crispy.

Prepare the cream cheese strawberry filling. For this, first, prepare the homemade strawberry jam. Place the strawberries with sugar and lemon juice into a medium saucepan and boil for about 10 minutes until thickens. Crush the strawberries while cooking, to get a smooth strawberry sauce. Let it cool to room temperature. Soak the gelatin powder in cold water, dissolve it over low heat, and mix it with the strawberry jam.

Mix cream cheese with powdered sugar and strawberry jam mixture. Gently fold the whipped cream into the strawberry jam mixture.

To assemble the cake, cut an 8-inch (20cm) square of baked puff pastry and place on a serving platter. Place a square cake ring around and line with acetate sheet for easier removal. Spread the cream cheese strawberry mixture evenly and top with puff pastry crumbs. Refrigerate to set for several hours or overnight. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

This puff pastry strawberry cheesecake is a dessert that is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. It is a dessert that is easy to make, yet looks impressive and tastes delicious. This dessert is perfect for serving at a dinner party, as a sweet treat after a meal, or simply for indulging in when you want something sweet and satisfying.

These Caramelized Onion and Mushroom Puff Pastry Hand Pies are an amazing comforting dish. They are perfect for lunch or dinner or simply as an appetizer idea for parties. These savory Hand Pies consist of flaky puff pastry filled with a flavorful filling with caramelized onion, mushrooms, fresh thyme and cheese. The puff pastries are topped with some Parmesan Cheese and then baked until golden and crisp. The best way to serve them is right after you take them out of the oven. Serve with a fresh salad or your favorite dipping sauce.

What type of dough to use?

The recipe is easy, and uses store-bought puff pastry to make things easier and faster. But if you have the time and energy I highly recommend making your own dough. Consider this Rough Puff Pastry or simply a Pate Brisee like in these Sweet Hand Pies.

How to make the savory hand pies filling?

For the first step you need to prepare the caramelized onion. I must say I really love how this caramelized onion turned out.  It is sweet and beautifully golden, perfect not only for these hand pies but for other dishes as well. I usually like to use it on burgers, on toast or added on dipping sauces.

The next step is to cook the mushrooms with some garlic and fresh thyme. After they cool down you can go to the next step of filling the puff pastry.

Working the puff pastry dough.

The puff pastry needs to be chill for easier handling.  Try to make this step as fast as possible especially if working in a very warm room. Cut the dough into pieces, fill , fold and prick the edges with a fork to seal the edges. Brush with some beaten egg and sprinkle some parmesan cheese or sesame seeds or even some bagel seasoning.

And here comes the best part, baking time. In less than 20 minutes you’ve got some flaky, buttery and crispy pies ready to be served.

You can always choose different fillings for the hand pies or use different herbs to suit your own tastes. They will definitely turn into an unforgettable treat each time. We have really loved these Caramelized Onion and Mushroom Puff Pastry Hand Pies and really hope you will give them a try. Enjoy!

f you’re looking for a delightful dessert to enjoy during cherry season, this Cherry Puff Pastry Cake with Caramelized White Chocolate Frosting is a heavenly option. The cake consists of two layers of rolled puff pastry sheets, filled with fresh cherries and baked together in a spiral formation. It’s then filled with a scrumptious caramelized white chocolate cream cheese frosting and topped with chocolate ganache and fresh cherries for a visually stunning presentation.

Despite its impressive appearance, this cake is actually quite simple and quick to prepare. Its unique appearance is reminiscent of the Russian “Monastery Hut,” but with a different shape, ingredients, and frosting. Your guests will be amazed by the taste and presentation of this delicious dessert.

How to make this Cherry Puff Pastry Cake

The recipe begins by preparing the cherry puff pastry layers. For this divide, each puff pastry sheet into three strips and place pitted cherries on each strip. Once rolled and sealed, these strips are arranged into a spiral formation in two pans. Bake the puff pastry layers until golden.

Next, prepare the caramelized white chocolate frosting. Melt the white chocolate over a bain-marie and bake it until golden brown. Mix the melted caramelized chocolate with cream cheese, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. This will create a delectable frosting that is spread between the two layers of the puff pastry cake.

After assembling the cake, refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight. Once ready, prepare the chocolate ganache by melting chocolate and cream over low heat. Spread it over the edges of the cake. Decorate the cake with chopped chocolate, fresh cherries, and chocolate curls.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this cake and found it to be an excellent way to incorporate cherries into a memorable dessert. What’s more, this cake can be made all year round using canned cherries or even other berries, making it a versatile dessert option.

So why not try making this Cherry Puff Pastry Cake for yourself and see how it turns out? I’m confident that you’ll love it just as much as I did. If you do try it out don’t forget to tag me on Instagram. Enjoy!

This delicious dessert made of sheets of crispy puff pastry, filled with vanilla custard cream is very familiar in many European countries and it is known under various names: cremeschnitte, krempita, kremšnita, krémes, cremsnit, cremes, vanilla custard cake and so on. No matter what is called it is a dessert you need to try at least once in a lifetime.

Making your kremsnita is not complicated, especially if you use store-bought puff pastry.  The cream is prepared quickly, and the hard part is simply the time it needs to set in the fridge.

How to make Kremsnita – Vanilla Custard Cake

Begin by preparing the pastry sheets. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry thinly to yield two 8-inch (20cm) squares and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown. Once baked, allow the pastry sheets to cool completely.

How to prepare the vanilla custard filling

Separate the egg whites from the yolks. In a mixing bowl, combine the yolks with ½ cup (100g) of sugar, cornstarch, and flour, and gradually add 1 cup (240ml) of milk, whisking to blend everything together. In a saucepan, bring the remaining 2 ⅓ cups (560ml) of milk to a boil. While whisking continuously, pour the yolk mixture over the hot milk and continue cooking until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

In another bowl, add salt to the egg whites and whip them until foamy. Gradually add the remaining ¼ cup (50g) of sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the hot milk mixture. Whip the cream until stiff peaks form, then fold it into the milk mixture as well.

How to assemble the cake

Cut one of the baked puff pastry squares into two 8-inch (20cm) squares. Place one square at the bottom of an 8-inch (20cm) square pan. Add the custard filling on top and smooth the surface. Cut the remaining square of puff pastry into 6 or 8 equal pieces and place them on top of the custard. Refrigerate the cake for 3 to 4 hours to allow it to set.

Before serving, dust the cake with powdered sugar. Enjoy!

Every time I make rough puff pastry I am surprised of the flaky and crispy pastries I get using this method. This quick recipe incorporate the butter into the flour and involves just some repeated rolling and folding without needing to refrigerate between. It takes no more than 15 minutes active work to prepare and gets very similar results to a classic puff pastry dough, which is by far much more time consuming until to be ready for baking.

The most important rule for this rough puff pastry recipe is to use good quality butter, that doesn’t have a high content of water and to not overwork the dough. Pieces of butter remain visible and this makes the dough flakier when baking.

You can use this dough for every recipe that requires puff pastry, and the results will be simply amazing.

How to make rough puff pastry

In a large bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Using a pastry blender, fork, or pastry processor, incorporate the butter into the flour until crumbs form. Add the water and stir until just incorporated, being careful not to overwork the dough, as visible butter chunks should remain. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for 20 minutes.

On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the chilled dough until it is three times its length, creating a rectangle approximately 6 x 17 inches (15 cm x 45 cm). Fold the top third down to the center, then fold the bottom third up and over that. If necessary, brush off any excess flour. Turn the dough to the left or right and roll it out again to three times its length. Repeat the rolling and folding process for a total of 4 to 6 times. If the dough becomes sticky during the process, refrigerate it for 30 minutes before continuing.

Once the rolling and folding process is complete, cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill it for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out for use. Alternatively, you can chill the dough overnight, and it will keep well for a couple of days in the refrigerator.

How to make apple pastries

To make the apple pastries, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a small bowl, combine the sugar with the cinnamon.

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled rough puff pastry dough into a rectangle measuring approximately 12 x 17 inches (30 x 45 cm). Cut the dough into 6 equal pieces and transfer them to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.

Use a fork to prick the center of each pastry, then brush them with beaten egg. Sprinkle some of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the pastries, then arrange apple slices in the center of each one. Sprinkle additional cinnamon sugar on top of the apples.

Bake the pastries for 20-25 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown. Once baked, transfer the pastries to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired. Enjoy these delicious apple pastries!

This Puff Pizza Ring is an easy appetizer idea you can prepare just in a few minutes and have it ready by the time guests arrive. It looks quite impressive and appetizing and takes no more than 10 minutes to have it ready to go in the oven.

You can make a lot of variations to the filling used, simply add your favorite ingredients either sweet or savory and roll it up to create this beautiful ring of puff pastry.

For this recipe I’ve used homemade tomato pizza sauce as I really like how it turns out but feel free to use any other sauce you have around if you are in a hurry.

This puff pizza ring should be served a bit warm alongside your favorite dipping sauce.

How to make Puff Pizza Ring

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Next, unfold the puff pastry and use a rolling pin to gently roll it out to make it slightly wider.

Using a knife, pizza cutter, or pastry cutter, cut thin strips into the pastry, leaving about 1/3 of the length of the pastry uncut.

Spread tomato pizza sauce evenly over the remaining uncut portion of the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. You can use your own homemade tomato pizza sauce or store-bought.

Top the sauce with shredded Mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, and grated Parmesan cheese, layering them evenly over the sauce.

Carefully separate the dough strips slightly and begin folding them over the filling, alternating sides to create a braided appearance.

Once all the strips are folded over, carefully transfer the filled pastry log to the prepared baking sheet. Shape it into a circle and press the edges to seal.

Brush the top of the ring with beaten egg for a golden finish. If desired, sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake the pizza ring in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until it is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Allow the pizza ring to cool slightly before serving. This delicious and visually appealing dish is sure to be a hit with family and friends!  If you try it out, don’t forget to share the photos with me on Instagram. Would love to see how it turns out for you. Enjoy!

Whenever you need a quick and delicious sweet treat, no matter the occasion you might consider this Strawberry Puff Pastry Braid. Despite its impressive appearance, it comes together in just 10 minutes, ready to pop into the oven.

The fusion of cream cheese with strawberries and puff pastry creates a harmonious blend that’s sure to please everyone. You can easily customize it with various berries depending on the season or your preference. Hardly can anyone resist this amazing pastry.

How to make strawberry puff pastry braid

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sugar and vanilla, then mix until well combined.

Transfer the puff pastry dough onto the prepared baking sheet, working quickly to keep the dough chilled.

Draw a rectangle in the center of the dough, leaving about a 5-inch (12cm) border on each side, and a 1-inch (2.5cm) border at the top and bottom of the rectangle. Make diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart on both sides of the rectangle, and discard the four corners of the dough.

Spread the cream cheese mixture down into the center of the rectangle, then arrange the strawberry slices on top.

Fold the top and bottom parts of the dough over the filling, then fold the diagonal strips of dough over the filling, alternating sides until the entire loaf is braided. Press the ends to seal.

Brush the braid with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar on top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the braid is puffed and golden brown.

Once baked, cool the braid completely on a wire rack before serving.

These Nectarine Roses are an easy puff pastry treat you can easily make at home. I’ve been seeing this pastry roses on Pinterest not too long ago and really loved the way they look. I knew I have to give them a try sooner or later.

Just imagine, buttery, flaky and crispy puff pastry rolls with layers of flavorful nectarine slices, served warm sprinkled with a bit of powdered sugar. Totally irresistible dessert that takes only few minutes to prepare and also looks so beautiful.

The pastry roses I’ve seen were made with apples but as summer is here nectarines or peaches seemed like such a better option for me. Not to mention that is even easier with nectarines than with apples, as nectarines, if cut into thin slices, are flexible enough for rolling and don’t require any cooking before.

Nectarines really bring a nice flavor to these delicious treats and with their beautiful rose shape are great for parties or family gatherings.

The recipe is very easy to prepare even for those who are not familiar with baking, all you need is some fruits and some puff pastry, and everybody is going to be impressed and delighted. Nectarine roses are best served warm but are pretty good even after a few hours. Try them out, there is no way to go wrong with these.
